China Week Event
CHINA AND THE NEW WORLD ORDER
China Week at King's College London
The AM to PM Wellbeing Service Explores How a Rising Power is Reshaping Health and Social Care
The AM to PM Wellbeing Service was honoured to attend this year’s China Week, hosted by The Lau China Institute at King’s College London. The event offered a timely and thought-provoking exploration of China’s rising influence in the world — from its immense economic power and rapid innovation in technology, to its expanding military presence.
Against a backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tensions, the week’s discussions centred on a critical question: how is the world’s second largest economy reshaping, refining, and challenging a new world order?
A Panel of Expert Views
The centrepiece of the event was a panel of leading experts who shared their insights on China's trajectory and its implications for global systems. The AM to PM Wellbeing Service attended not only to listen, but to measure where our own research and thinking stand in relation to their views and opinions. The conversations were illuminating, challenging, and ultimately affirming — confirming that the pace of change driven by China is unprecedented and demands attention across all sectors, including health and social care.
What This Means for Health and Social Care
For The AM to PM Wellbeing Service, China Week was far from an abstract geopolitical discussion. The key takeaway was this: how we deliver health and social care is transitioning to a new way of doing things, right now. New treatments and advanced technologies are no longer concepts of the distant future. They are being discovered and implemented today — and China is leading the way. From artificial intelligence in diagnostics to regenerative medicine and digital health platforms, the innovations emerging from China have the potential to transform wellbeing services globally.
Our Response: Integrating Innovation into Service Delivery
The AM to PM Wellbeing Service has already begun exploring these new treatments and technologies. Our work is now focused on a practical and urgent challenge: how to integrate these advancements into our service model to improve the help and support we provide to our service users.
We are actively researching:
Emerging technologies that can enhance remote care and monitoring.
New treatment approaches that align with our wellbeing philosophy.
Ethical and practical frameworks for adopting innovations safely and equitably.
Looking Ahead
China Week reinforced our belief that staying informed about global shifts — economic, technological, and geopolitical — is essential for any organisation committed to delivering modern, effective health and social care. The world is changing rapidly, and The AM to PM Wellbeing Service intends to change with it, always with our service users at the heart of every decision.
We extend our sincere thanks to The Lau China Institute at King’s College London for hosting such a vital and insightful event. We look forward to continuing the conversation — and to putting new knowledge into practice.
